"A GIFT OF HAPPINESS"  CHAPTER 10: THE FINAL CHAPTER     It's about 1:15am right now. My friends which are seating with me in the living room are starting to feel drowsy. At this point I already have finished telling my story. But Kate, Lillith and Bella want to find out further about what happened.  "It can't believe that it was the granny all along."      Utters Kate.       "I really thought it was one of the guys from your store."      Lillith says. "No way gals, there's no way Frank and Phil or Chris would have done that."       Jazmin is already sleep. She's in a seating position while resting her head in the cough. Despite feeling drowsy, my three friends still want to stay up a little longer, this was supposed to be an all-nighter after all. But I'm already feeling tired, yes I'm currently off tomorrow so I can afford the luxury to sleep in but at this point I'd rather go and get some r...

"A GIFT OF HAPPINESS" CHAPTER 9: SOME FLOWERS ARE VENOMOUS

"A GIFT OF HAPPINESS"  CHAPTER 9: SOME FLOWERS ARE VENOMOUS      It was Sunday September 17th, early in the morning. Like usual, Leslie and I met up while on our way to work. Up to that point we had been texting each other a lot, this on itself was not a rare thing for us. Ever since we started working at Joe's we kind of became best friends. Joan was also a good friend of us, but she mostly minded her own business and would not reply to all of our text messages.      That time though, we would text each other a lot because at that point, both Leslie and I were experiencing some novelties in our personal lives. My mom who was and still is a veteran nurse had found a good job at as a head nurse at the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital. She was making good money at the time and as a result, she suggested me to focus all of my energies on my college career. My mother ensured me she could care for me and my two other siblings. Since I did colleg...

"A GIFT OF HAPPINESS" CHAPTER 8: A SCENE IN THE DUMPSTER

"A GIFT OF HAPPINESS"  CHAPTER 8: A SCENE IN THE DUMPSTER          It was a rather quiet and peaceful morning, on the day of September 16th. Two days prior it was pouring down so the change of weather was pretty nice. That day, Leslie and I made it to work pretty early, so we had time to seat down and relax in a nearby bench and chat a little. I remember that that day we went into a local bodega operated by Latinos and got ourselves a nice, mashed plantain breakfast with passion fruit juice. That morning Leslie and I were reflecting on the recent events that had taken place on the neighborhood.  "So, Les how do you feel about there being a killer among us out here?"  "To tell you the truth, I was a little scared at first but now I kind of feel thrilled, is like I'm in a slasher movie sort of speak."  "You don't feel scared that you might get targeted next?"  "So far has only been homeless people that have been dying so I'm...

"A GIFT OF HAPPINESS" CHAPTER 6: A BOY NAMED FINN

Image
"A GIFT OF HAPPINESS"  CHAPTER 6: HIS NAME IS FINN By Franklin Campusano ___________________________________________________________________________________     It was about a month after Luis was found dead and Joan had told me about her experience with him and the homeless men. I remember  that it was very rainy, homeless street looked very desolated.      Corpses of homeless people would pop up almost every morning, which lead to an intense police presence  in the area. These detectives would approach the locals and ask them questions. Despite this, no leads were  found at that point yet. The detectives and the locals were baffled, how can the homeless people be dying like this and so suddenly?      The homeless people started hiding in the abandoned buildings of the old business district to avoid contact with the police and would only come out at night. But the fear among them and the locals could also not be ignored. ...
